Larnaca Airport
Larnaca international airport connects the country of Cyprus to the world. In combination with lesser known Paphos international airport, it beautifully forms Cyprus’s travel gateway to the world. It has a single connecting airside terminal for the purpose of passenger usage. Presently, there is a large hangar also used as a cargo terminal and in absence of jet ways, passengers are ferried to the plane via a bus.
History of Larnaca international airport
Nicosia is the capital of Cyprus and its airport held center stage till in 1974. It was closed down by Turkey’s invasion over Cyprus. This resulted in the expeditious development of Larnaca airport for the purpose of providing an airway cushion to international passengers. Larnaca airport is built on airfields and garrisons that had developed in the area in the past. Cyprus Airways commenced the movement of flight on the airport when it opened in the year 1975

Second phase of development slated to be finished by the year 2013 will see a new terminal being laid that will tackle as many as 9 million passengers in a year.
Transport to the airport
Airport can be verily reached from car, taxi, and public transportation systems. Shuttle services run from Limassol and Nicosia. These are affiliated with the Cyprus government and charge a very moderate sum. In fact, the price is as less as 5 euro from Nicosia and the passengers boarding from Limassol have to pay an extra 2 euros.
Places the airlines take you
Cyprus airways take you to the maximum number of destinations and thus it is the most used airways. A few of the places it caters to are Amman, Amsterdam, Brussels, Frankfurt and Damascus. Eurocypria airlines is the next most prolific carrier and takes you to Nuremberg, Manchester, Munich, Stuttgart and London. Thomas cook and Thomson airlines are also doing very well in Larnaca airport.
Ayia Napa to Larnaca
Ayia napa is a tourist hub and it has made quite a name for itself. Naturally, a strong service from the airport to the Ayia Napa is required. For the purpose, there are taxis, buses and public means of transport to travel the distance of 29 miles or 46 kilometers. Taxi will cost €55 one way, so it pays off to use a bus if your budget is tight.
Fig Tree Bay to Larnaca
It’s the most renowned beach in the Protaras area and it is 55 kilometers from the Larnaca airport. Though there are various means to travel from Fig Bay Area to Larnaca yet the public transport systems are the best deals as the taxis can charge you a handful.
