A few days every week there’s foam parties as well. The partying starts in early May and the beach bars pack up their stuff in the end of October. A photographer has snapped a few photos during the summer of 2009 and shares it on Flickr:

It’s already March and the bar owners, boat owners, restauranteurs and hotel managers in Ayia Napa are preparing for the summer. Usually Ayia Napa starts to come to life in April. This year many businesses seem to have decided that easter is a good time to open the business for the season.

Many may feel a bit uneasy these days. How will bookings fare in this economic climate? Will the package tour operators manage to fill the rooms they have ordered?

Signs of a economic downturn are visible. Today, you can book heavily discounted rooms  at 4- and 5- star hotels in Ayia Napa through the online booking agents like Hotels and Expedia.

For visitors, the stay may become cheaper this year, and there will probably also be more opportunities for generous happy hours and drink discounts.

Keo Beer is the local beer on Cyprus. I think it’s the market leader in terms of sales. Carlsberg is number 2, and the little less known Leon beer is number 3. That’s at least the impression I am left with after enjoying the various beer brands in Ayia Napa during the summer of 2008.
